This is a flat track mostly on bitumen. Occasional dirt path to avoid bikes.
Bring Water, sunscreen, hat, snacks, lunch, sturdy walking shoes/boots, insect repellent, first aid kit and snake bite bandages if you have them. Something to sit on might also be handy.
The drive to Christies Rd, Leopold will take about an hour. GPS Coordinates: 38°10’58.2″S 144°28’30.5″E The carpark has capacity for around 8 cars. The drivers will then head to Station St, Drysdale Railway Station (8 minutes). GPS Coordinates: 38°10’47.2″S 144°33’26.4″E to leave the cars and return to Christies Rd.
The walk should start between 10-10.30am after the car shuffle drivers return and after a toilet break and morning tea. We will hit the trail heading in an easterly direction.
We’ll cross several roads. Our last crossing is over High St to arrive at The Drysdale Train Station.
Along the way we pass farms, golf courses, and a number of markers where stations used to be along this now disused line. We will also catch glimpses of the rail line itself
If anyone still has left over energy, there is an easy 1.4km loop walk around Lake Lorne.
