Upon arrival at the skate park, we will have morning tea and, if necessary, use the amenities. Our walk takes us along the Lerderderg Track with the first half an hour being hilly and uneven underfoot and includes many short stepped sections.
After that it levels out to form part of a rail trail which takes us to an old wooden bridge that the trains used to run over. Before the bridge we’ll turn left and circumnavigate Lake Jubilee in a clockwise direction. While we are here it would be wise to use the amenities as the next opportunity is back at the start.
The track brings us back to the rail bridge which crosses a small unnamed creek with the upper part of Wombat Falls flowing beneath it. After the bridge we turn left again.
More hills follow before we reach Lake Road and not far past that, the Ballan-Daylesford Road which was quite busy.
Once across the highway we turn left down Burrall St, then Leggatt St and Old Ballarat Rd for about 10-15 minutes until we enter through a gate following the path down towards Lake Daylesford.
Here we cross a small stone bridge and come out at the Central Springs Mineral Reserve where we will stop here for lunch. There are no amenities close by.
After lunch we’ll walk up to the causeway and take the path skirting the western perimeter of the lake where we pick up the Lerderderg Track again. The track winds itself up to Ruthven St where we cross the highway once more, after which it was a short walk back to the skate park.
