Falcons Lookout & The Granites, Werribee Gorge

You will need to bring sun hat, raincoat, sunscreen, hiking boots or suitable walking shoes, 2 litres of water, lunch, snacks and walking poles if you have them.

We will carpool from Werribee to Ironbark Gorge carpark, accessed from Ironbark Road. There is limited parking here.

There are no toilet facilities anywhere on this walk, only what nature provides. The track is of mostly hard earthen surface, with some loose stones closer to the lookout. There is a steep descent of about 200 metres at the start of the walk with a lot of steps on the descent. The track has rock hopping and loose stones under foot in places with a gradual ascent to the lookout.

The trail starts with a descent down to Ironbark Gorge. It then runs through part of the gorge and includes some rock hopping. As we leave the gorge the track gradually climbs for a about 500 metres, then levels out before descending to Falcons Lookout. We will have morning tea at the lookout.

After morning tea we walk back up the hill to a junction and continue to the Granites. From the junction there is a steep descent down to the Lower Werribee Gorge area. From here we follow the river away from the gorge for a few hundred metres and arrive at the Granites.

After a short break we will return to Ironbark carpark via the same trail. On the way out there are 2 steep hill climbs, the smaller of them is right at the end of the walk.
