You will need to bring a sun hat, raincoat, hiking boots or suitable walking shoes, 2 litres of water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, and walking poles if you have them.
We will carpool from Werribee. The walk starts from The Lower picnic ground in the You Yangs Regional Park. The track is on a hard earth surface with rocks (some large) on some sections of the track. The track up to Flinders Peak summit has a lot of steps (park notes say 450 steps).
The walk will start from the Lower picnic ground, there are toilets at the carpark. The first .5 km is up hill but not steep, with some rocks to navigate up to the Turntable carpark.
From here we will walk up to the Flinders peak summit. This section of the track is up hill about 1.5kms with a large number of steps. At the summit we will have morning tea and then return down to the Turntable carpark via the same trail.
At the carpark we will take the east side of the East/west trail. This trail has a lot of rocks, some large, to navigate and scramble over, and has a few small hill climbs as well. We will meet up with the west side of the trail that will bring us back around to the Upper Turntable carpark. The track conditions on the west side are the same as the east side. From the Upper carpark we will return to the Lower picnic ground were the walk will finish.
