Goldfield Track, Creswick north circuit walk

Distance: 9.5kms circuit
Grade: 3
Leaders: Lucy, Yun Yun (Lucy 2) & Grace
Meet: 8.15am for 8:30am departure from all-day car park opposite Hungry Jacks, Werribee.

We will carpool from Werribee or meet at the car park at the Creswick Information Centre (corner of Albert Street and Victoria Street). It takes 1 hour and 15 mins to get there, there are plenty of car park spots there.

Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2.5 hours to complete, not including breaks. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and running.

You need to bring plenty of water, snacks/lunch, hat, walking stick and sunscreen.

An awesome trail exploring some of the bushland to the east of the town of Creswick.

From the centre town, we’ll begin by walking through the University of Melbourne Creswick Campus and then onto the Goldfields Track. This track will take us past several points of interest including:

Former Stables
La Gerche Forest Walk: A French bailiff helped establish this forest; it’s a very pleasant walk with a lot of beautiful leafy trees and shade and we can have morning tea there.
Brackenbury Hill: after morning tea, we have to climb up this hill for about 300 metres, the most challenging part; there is not much shade. On top of the hill, you can appreciate panoramic view of Creswick plantation;
St Georges Lake: downhill to the lake, then walk along the lake to the lunch spot.

After lunch, we continue on the goldfield track, then back to the town of Creswick, help yourself with multiple options of Cafes or resting places before heading off home.
