For this walk you will need sturdy footwear, clothing appropriate for the weather, morning tea, lunch, water, hat, sunscreen and first aid kit
Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve is located about 90 minutes north west of Werribee at co-ordinates: 37°18’42.3″S 144°08’35.1″E
There are tables, shelters and amenities here so upon arrival we will have morning tea.
This trail is part of the Dry Diggings Track and starts from the reserve on an undulating dirt track varying in width and terrain. It winds its way through open dry eucalyptus forest. Most of the surface is easy going but there are intermittent protruding rocks & roots and sections of uneven ground. Walking poles should make the work easier. The last section, down to the spring, is a short steep bitumen path.
On the return walk there is a short, optional, track up to the Jacksons Lookout tower of about 100 metres return, with views from the top of the tower.
Depending on the time we will have lunch either at Golden Spring or upon our return.
If people are interested, 5kms north, on the Midlands Highway, we can call in to the Chocolate Mill for hot chocolate or coffee
