Distance from Werribee: 93km. We will drive to Lal Lal Falls Reserve Playground 37°39’23.9″S 144°02’08.0″E
Bring 2L water, sunscreen, morning tea, lunch, snacks, walking pole and a first aid kit. The track is very exposed on some stretches so wear suitable clothing, sunhat/beanie and hiking boots. Bring a wet weather jacket just in case.
Track conditions: uneven grass track with some muddy, slippery stretches.
Before starting the walk we’ll have morning tea and use the facilities at the Lal Lal reserve car park. There is a short walk to the Lal Lal Falls viewing platform which provides stunning views of falls where we can take photos.
Depending on the group, we will start the main walk to Moorabool Falls from Lal Lal reserve, or we can drive to Moorabool Falls car park. The walk has fantastic views of the basalt cliffs surrounding Lal Lal Falls and the reservoir. There are some slight inclines and uneven steps down to the Moorabool Falls viewing platform, where we get beautiful views of Moorabool Falls. We will return along the same route.
If it’s not too busy, we will have lunch at Lal Lal reserve, or drive to Mount Egerton Reserve, which has picnic tables and toilet facilities. After lunch we will return to Werribee.
