We will carpool from Werribee to Mackenzies Flat picnic ground in the Lerderderg State Park. The walk starts and ends from the picnic ground and there are toilets here.
The track is a mix of hard earthen surface and rocky surface. There are no hills on the walk but it does have 8 to 10 River crossings, (no bridges) On preview day late last year, one crossing had stones above the water level, the rest were on the river bed that was covered by shallow water. There is no guaranteed they will be dry, despite a lack of rain, so be prepared to get wet feet. Dogs are not allowed in the park.
You will need to bring a raincoat, hat, hiking boots or suitable walking shoes (no sandals or thongs), walking poles if you have them, sunscreen, first aid kit, lunch, water and snacks.
The walk follows the Lerderderg River upstream to Grahams Dam.
From the dam we walk another 2kms or so upstream. This part of the track has rocky sections.
At this point we return to Mackenzies Flat via the same trail.
