What to bring:
Bring water, sunscreen, hat, morning tea, lunch, sturdy walking shoes or boots, first aid kit, rain coat.
The walk begins on a well-defined track. This will be followed by some rough off-track walking with a couple of creek crossings (which are dry at the time of writing this preview but will be wet after rain). Pushing through thick scrub will occur for short distances. After this we will be on narrow tracks which will be rough underfoot.
This walk begins not far out of Bacchus Marsh and takes us through some of the most southerly remnant of Mallee scrub in Australia.
After a steep descent to the Coimadai Creek, we will cross the creek and follow it for some distance before climbing to a ridge which we will follow to a scenic point for lunch.
On our return we follow a track on the opposite side of the creek which climbs up and over rocky outcrops with views across the valley before descending back to the creek. From here we will return to the cars via the Happy Valley track. Although not long in distance, this walk includes some rough off-track terrain and some short, steep climbs and descents as well as some fairly level sections on good tracks.
The walk will take about 4 and a half hours at a relaxed pace including lunch, plenty of rest stops and photo opportunities.
