Macedon Ranges Walk

We will carpool from Werribee to Harbison Picnic Ground, Mount Macedon (37°23’05.2″S 144°34’34.6″E) were the walk starts. The drive will take about 75 minutes. There is parking and toilets here.

The track conditions vary. Some of the walk is on firm earthen surface with some large embedded stones other parts are on a dirt road with very little traffic. There are a number of uphill sections throughout the walk that vary in steepness and distance. The last climb up to the cross is steep. If it’s wet, the track could be slippery in places.

Bring water, sunscreen, hat, morning tea, lunch, sturdy walking shoes or boots, raincoat, first aid kit and walking poles if you have them.

The walk takes us through a beautiful forested area to Mc Gregors Picnic Ground where there are also amenities. From here we cross over Cameron Drive and walk on a wide grassy verge alongside the road to Clyde Track.

We’ll then walk down Clyde Track, which very few cars use, to Hoods Track. Hoods Track will take us onto a walking trail that has a steep, 750 metre, climb up to the Mount Macedon Memorial Cross and back to the Harbison Picnic Ground, were the walk finishes.
