The drive from Werribee is around 68km. There are amenities near the start of the walk, and at least 2 cafes if you want to get a hot drink or lunch along the way.
Our walk commences from the car park at the end of Hodgson St, Ocean Grove 38°16’15.1″S 144°31’28.4″E
You will need water, sturdy walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, morning tea and lunch. Much of the track is open and can get windy so dress according to the weather forecast.
The trail passes the Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club, meanders through tea tree lined paths until we get to the William Buckley Bridge which crosses the Barwon River. From there we follow a concrete walkway alongside the beach.
At the southern end, if the tide is low, we can walk around the cliff base or use a set of stairs and ascend above the bluff and descend to the beach the other side via another set of stairs. Here we can enjoy morning tea and do some exploring among the rock pools and runoffs before climbing the stairs once more, cutting through the car park, down the stairs back to the beach side path.
On the way back we can walk along the walkway or on the beach on well compacted sand. Once back at the cars we can have lunch overlooking the beach.
