Distance from Werribee 47kms / 45minutes to Stony Creek Picnic Area 37°51’25.3″S 144°15’03.4″E
Bring water, sunscreen, hat, morning tea, lunch, sturdy walking shoes or boots, walking poles and first aid kit.
95% of the track is mainly flat, compacted earth with a few very minor undulations and would be a grade 2 walk. There is one 200metre section where there are exposed roots and lots of stones littering the path as well as one incline & decline. This section leads to the Nelson Lookout.
After first stopping at Stony Creek Picnic Area, to use the facilities and to have morning tea, we will shuttle walkers up to a small car park, with limited space, from which we will start the 3-part walk.
Part one is a 1 hour return walk to Nelson Lookout. Part 2 is a short 15-minute loop walk along Aquaduct Track and part 3 is 1 hour loop walk along Redbeak Track, Outlook Track, Ted Errey Nature Circuit and Burchell Track. Rather than walk along Switch Rd we will take the Aquaduct track back to the car park.
After the walk we will return to the picnic area for lunch. If anyone has energy left over, we can walk to the Reservoir Wall and back or get an early start back to Werribee.
