Distance from Werribee: 13km (20 min drive) Park in Sunflower Walk 37°53’54.6″S 144°46’44.5″E
Bring 2L water, sunscreen, morning tea, lunch, snacks, and a first aid kit. The track is very exposed on some stretches so wear suitable clothing, sunhat and walking shoes or boots. Bring a wet weather jacket just in case.
Track is mostly flat with some uneven steps and walking on an incline at Federation Steps. It comprises urban footpaths, gravel and may be muddy in parts if it has been raining.
The walk starts at Coastal Promenade, Point Cook, taking the track that crosses Skeleton Creek. It skirts Truganina Park, crosses Laverton Creek to Apex Park and return.
The section to Apex Park is along coastal salt marsh, coastal alkaline scrub, wetlands and grasslands. The area is home to interesting bird life and vegetation.
We will have morning tea on a small beach at Apex Park and return via the 100 Steps of Federation at Truganina Park.
Depending on the time we will have a picnic lunch on the Bay trail near Coastal Promenade or return to Werribee.
